“Prescott College, and its many wonderful faculty shaped and launched me.”

Scott Hecker

Scott Hecker (‘79) studied natural history, biological illustration, and photography @prescottcollege. Hecker fully embraced his time in the community, serving on the College’s board of trustees, teaching art classes, and serving as an acting Director of Admissions.

As a student @prescottcollege, Hecker lived by the motto, "Your classroom is the Southwest." Almost 40 years after graduating from Prescott College, he appreciates his ability to combine all of his interests into “one wonderful experiential outcome.” His educational experience provided him with expertise in the field of wildlife conservation. In his current position as the Director of Bird Conservation for the International Conservation Fund of Canada he has continued his “never-ending quest to learn about all critters, all habitats, and all ecosystems”. Hecker’s motto these days is, "Nature needs half!" He lives by this motto by encouraging everyone to pay attention to what the planet is telling us through climate change and to act accordingly.
